Hosting your friends and family for the game

Keep these simple tips in mind when hosting friends and family for the game.

With both the college and professional football seasons in full swing, you may be considering having your own version of game day for friends and family. Even if you've never been in charge of hosting such an event before, there are a few easy ways you can make sure everyone has a blast. Here are four of them:

1. Offer plenty of snacks
A hungry guest probably isn't a happy one. Football games generally last a few hours, so be sure you are fully stocked with food and refreshments. If you live in an area where the weather stays mild throughout the fall, don't hesitate to grill ahead of time. Barbecue is easy to store in the fridge for a few hours and just as easy to heat up again when people get hungry. Burgers, brats and chicken breasts are great food choices for the game because they can be be eaten without utensils, making for a much easier cleanup later. Plus, if you cook ahead of time you won't have to worry about missing a minute of the action.

2. Use an epic entertainment system
Don't forget the reason you are having people over in the first place! You and your guests should watch the game on the largest TV you have in the house. Pick out an entertainment system that will show off your awesome television set and give everyone a good view. You can find a great selection if you make your way down to Arwood's Furniture & Mattress, Missouri's LARGEST Furniture Store, today!

3. Make sure there is a comfortable seat for everyone
One of the best parts about not watching the game in person is that you won't have to sit on uncomfortable bleacher seats for hours on end. Take full advantage of that fact by offering your guests comfortable seating options. When arranging furniture, start by planning where you are going to put the larger items, like sofas and loveseats. After that, add recliners and other comfortable chairs to the remaining space. Since you're a good host who offers food and drinks to your guests, it is not a bad idea to place a sturdy coffee table (or a few side tables) in the center of the party.

4. Invite the neighbors
Odds are it's going to get fairly loud with all of the cheering in your house. Instead of letting that any cause friction with your neighbors, invite them over for the festivities. After all, the more the merrier – as long as they're rooting for your team!
