Naps might seem harmless enough, but be careful! If they throw off your sleep schedule, naps could be more trouble than they’re worth.
Your body generally does well with consistency, and that’s also true for sleep patterns. Because of this, regular sleep time can help encourage better habits. But even if you nap every day at the same time, you could detract from your health.
In fact, one report from the American Journal of Epidemiology found a link between naps during the day and higher mortality rates. So though it might seem tempting to sleep while the sun’s out, in the long run, it’s probably better to work on your nighttime sleep. That way, you may feel less of a need to doze off during the day.
